Dr. Sade  Victory World Athletics Ministries, Inc. Testimony

I joined Victory World Athletics Ministries, Inc. when the organization first started as Victory Basketball. At the time, I was in high school and met Greg and Rosa Moore through the small group ministry at Victory World Church. After not too long of knowing them, they became and aunt and uncle to me pouring into my life in various ways. They did this for me, and a countless number of other kids, so it was no surprise to me when they shared their vision of starting Victory Basketball. I immediately wanted to find out how I could help! I joined Greg and Rosa Moore in praying and fasting for this new athletics ministry and watched the ministry grow over the years. I volunteered as a prayer leader, tutor, and mentor both during game days and throughout the week as lead. Victory Basketball was not just about playing the game; it was about reaching children. It was an honor to be able to reach these kids through various ways while they were participating in the program either as players or family members of players. I will never forget the day that Greg told me I would be coaching. Yes, he TOLD me! I never played basketball competitively, but Greg saw a need for young female coaches to work with the children. I was so nervous, but it actually worked! I was able to help the players on and off the court.

When I went off to college and professional school, I was not in the Atlanta area. It was so difficult to leave the ministry that I felt such a connection to, but going away helped me realize that I gained so much in the process of helping with the ministry. Victory World Athletics emphasized to me that we need to relate to people on different levels to show them God’s love and bring them to Him. Children are impressionable, and society today has no problem impressing ungodly things upon them. It is my responsibility to play my role in helping children get on the right track in their life. I love the key scripture for Victory World Athletics Ministries, Inc.: “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6. While away in school, I was so moved to see the growth of this ministry from just Basketball to multiple sports. It is so evident that God has his hand on this ministry, and I look forward to all the great things that are yet to come! I am so blessed to have been a part of this ministry and the lives of the directors—Greg and Rosa Moore.

I started at Victory World Athletics Ministry two years ago. I signed up my son Richard Quinland for basketball and my daughter Kayla Burmant for cheerleading. To my surprise I thought I was signing my children up for just sports but over time I came to find family and friends.

God is truly amazing… truly!! Allowing my children and me to share in this ministry has been an amazing journey, one I look forward to continuing. I almost walked right pass my blessing.

Being part of the Victory World Church athletics ministry has been so much more than sports for our family. Through basketball and cheer, my girls have grown spiritually, made new friends, and pushed themselves to become stronger and healthier.

It’s been 8 years since the beginning and we’ve seen some leave and new people come aboard, but it’s always the same…..people who come into Victory World Athletics Ministry are on fire for God. We still have the closeness; the family atmosphere. I believe my children, as well as, myself are better people because of this ministry. Kudos to Coach Greg for the vision and to Rosa, his wife, for letting him run with it. You two are amazing!

“I was not only taught the fundamentals of basketball but the fundamentals of Christianity. My coaches taught me how to do a lay-up as well as lay my burdens down for God to carry.”
